Avril Lavinge ; Goodbye Lullaby
You may know Avril Lavigne as a pop punk princess and recognize her for the fun and rebellious sound she produces within an album. Well after 4 years since her last album, The Best Damn Thing , she is back with a whole new sound for her 4th studio album Goodbye Lullaby. This record released on March 5th through RCA records has struck fans with a whole new vibe. Instead of hearing her whine about your girlfriend, or sing about a skater boy, this record has some more pop and slower songs. But don’t doubt her, theres still her signature fun fast songs. This record has more relatable songs to girls of ages young to teenagers. I personally love this album and got attached to it right away. I would not imagine it enjoyable to teenage boys though, but i’m sure thats already obvious. It’s good to see Avril back and taking risk with a brand new sound. 5 of 5 Stars.
Panic! At the Disco is back, and better than ever with their recent release of “Vice & Virtures”. This is the first release of the band, with loss of Ryan Ross (Guitarist) and Jon Walker (basses) and is now accompanied by Ian Crawford and Dallon Brobeck. This is the bands 3rd studio album and is more similar to the bands first record “A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out” in the terms of sound wise, lyrics and overall tone of the album. A couple years ago, before this record Panic at the Disco was my favorite band but when the release of Panic’s 2nd album, “Pretty. Odd.” Came out and was not very impressed and I slowly stopped listening to them. This album struck like lighting and I find myself listening to them more often these day. The album opens up strong with “The Ballad of Mona Lisa” when I first heard this single before the album was released; I was pretty impressed at the improving sound of the band. Although that sound was pretty good I was still not impressed much by the album that was on repeat my whole Vacation with my friend Jen. Vice & Vitures was on repeat the majority of the trip, and eventually I found myself retaining the lyrics and singing along. The lyrics have so much meaning and symbolism in them. This is super catchy and I highly recommend it to anyone who likes rock or pop music.
The Strokes new record “Angles”, the latest release of The Strokes since 2006 with “First Impressions Of the Earth” recently came out on March 22nd. “Angles” the 4th studio record has been awaited by die hard Strokes fans for about 5 years. Unfortunately at first with this American Rock band from New York, New York producing great Alt Rock tunes since 1998 had led us fans to a disappoint. Being one of these die hard Strokes fans, I can completely relate to this, from my point of view I can certainly say I was disappointed at first with this record, as well as other fans were, but as time went buy I fell in love with this record and I cannot stop listening to it. This record contains 8 new tracks that are different from past sounds on The Strokes records. The album’s first single “Under Cover Of Darkness” was released about a month before the release of the full album, and was just so unbelievably impressive. Julian Casablancas (vocalist of the strokes), voice sounds stronger than ever and the melody of the song is just fabulous. That set everyone’s standards of expectation so high for this record, but the record did sound a bit less impressive then Under Cover Of Darkness, which could be a huge reason why this album was such a disappointment at first. This album does not top the strokes past records, but definitely stands out in its own way.
